Vermont, 1997-2023. The final reckoning.My golden retriever introduced me to Veronica on a trail in the Green Mountains.
We fell in love and built a wedding photography business together, capturing
other people's promises.After ripples from the 2008 financial crisis forced us to retire, the wanderer's
ghost wouldn't rest. In 2019, I spent everything on an overlanding rig designed
to roam the continent. It never left the town limits.Then nocturnal seizures arrived—violent, terrifying, unstoppable. My body
finally succeeded where my will had failed for fifty years. The perpetual
motion machine ground to a halt.I rejected anti-epileptic drugs and found healing through CBD. But the real
cure wasn't chemical—it was acceptance. True peace means learning to stop
running and live within yourself, finding stillness not as defeat but as
grace.This is where the journey that began on the American Interstates in 1973 finally ends:
in a Vermont farmhouse, with two dogs sleeping at my feet, my wife by side through thick and thin, and the understanding that home was never a place I needed to
